Do Your Job

I have a shorty coming over in a few hours.

At this current moment, I’ve got a lot on my plate and I’m both physically and mentally tired as hell. But guess what? She don’t give a fuck about none of that shit. All she cares about is that when she steps through my door, I better be ready to lay that pipe, and I better be ready to lay it well.

Let’s Go 2 Work.

In the book “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene, law 30 states, “Make your accomplishments seem effortless.” He goes on to say, “When you act, act effortlessly, as if you could do much more. Avoid the temptation of revealing how hard you work, it will only raise questions.”

You might be asking yourself, “What’s the point of all that?”

Well for one, nobody gives a damn about the mountains you had to climb to accomplish whatever it is you had to do… nobody. Two, whatever has to get accomplished, no matter how hard or how easy, must get done regardless, so you might as well just shut the hell up about it, do the thing, and move on.

Unfortunately for Self-Made Men, it’s not okay to just do the job. A Self-Made Man must also do his job with an air of sprezzatura.

Sprezzatura is an Italian word which means to maintain a nonchalant demeanor while performing complex tasks. It is the ability to disguise what one really feels behind a mask of reticence. Put another way, sprezzatura is the art of making something difficult look easy.

Let the common man seek accolades and praise only to find it means nothing further up the road. Let them hope that one day somebody will recognize their efforts and finally give them a break. Let them reveal their secrets on how they did this thing and that thing only for it to be used against them. Let them, for what the common man does is not of your concern.

No matter how arduous the task, how long the mission takes to complete, and how fatigued you may feel…

move with sprezzatura,

shut the fuck up,

and DO YOUR JOB.
