“Winning takes you through hell, and if you quit… that’s where you’ll stay.” - Tim Grover
Let’s Go 2 Work.
A Self-Made Man… or Self-Made Woman, must strive to achieve these four wins EVERYDAY:
#1: The Physical Win
Working out gives you more than just a great looking physique. Exercise teaches you how to push through pain, how to keep going when you want to quit, and how to work when you don’t feel like it.
Hard training (weights, HIIT, combat sports) - 3 to 4 times a week, 45 minutes to 1 hour and 1/2. Light training (walking, jogging, yoga, stretching)- every other day in between hard training days.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.” (Corinthians 6:19-20)
#2: The Mental Win
As soon as you wake up you are under attack. The consciousness of the world is attacking you, things people have said about you are attacking you, and the things you have said about yourself is attacking you. You must rewire your brain to be on YOUR side only. Deliberately start EACH DAY with things that affirm, inspire, and motivate you. Read words that will expand your perspective. Feed your mind self-made shit constantly. And instead of always listening to music in the car or at work, listen to audiobooks or podcasts that will cultivate your skills, usefulness, and importance.
“What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.”- Wayne Dyer
#3: The Spiritual Win
People love to argue about what the bible has to say as if they have some kind of ordained authority. One person will say a verse means this, while another person will say “No! This verse means that!” Do they not realize their translation stems from another man’s translation? What you mean Walt? The NIV version of the bible is a translation of the King James version which is a translation of Hebrew. I’ve said all that to say the only translation that matters is YOURS. What does your God have to say to you when you read the bible, when you meditate, when you speak with him? 10 minutes a day in a quiet room is all you need to find the answers you seek.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
#4: The Financial Win
Do you need to eat out again? Do you need another streaming service to distract you further? Do you really need to buy another damn smart phone? Winning financially every day comes down to saying YES to yourself and saying NO to everything else.
Do ANY ONE of the following daily: Track your spending. Set up a budget. Stick to the budget by saying “No” to unnecessary purchases. Make coffee/meals at home. Check your account balances to stay on budget and to catch any unauthorized charges. Learn something new about credit, stocks, and passive/secondary income (you can combine both the mental and financial win here, and if you listen to this information at the gym, that’s a three for one).
Money Karma- The concept that one’s financial behavior, including spending, saving, and earning, is a reflection of their character and that positive actions lead to positive financial outcomes, while negative actions lead to negative consequences.
The key to winning is strategy, preparation, and planning.
Strategy includes the how. HOW will you execute these wins daily? Preparation includes the what. WHAT do you need to accomplish these wins every day? And planning includes the when. WHEN best can you perform your strategies and preparations so that you can win consistently?
“Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out.” - Robert Collier
